 COACH KIM'S MESSAGE

TO PARENTS

Picture
“Not every child has an equal talent or an equal ability or an equal motivation, but they should have the equal right to develop their talent and  their ability and their motivation, to make something of themselves.”
 - President John F. Kennedy
 Dear Parents,

Whether your child is interested in tennis recreationally, aspiring to become a professional player, or anywhere in between, we are committed to helping each student get the most out of their KGTA experience, in a fun and positive environment.

As President Kennedy believed, KGTA believes that all children should have an equal opportunity to explore their talents and  motivations. There is one central element to everything we do with our Junior students: to teach and to inspire. That’s it. That is the heart of a great tennis instructor. We teach your children to develop their tennis talent, and inspire them to foster their motivations, both in tennis and in life in general.

According to research by Benjamin Bloom, author of Developing Talent in Young People, the most important aspect of developing talent is  a love and passion for what you’re doing.

We believe strongly in this philosophy at KGTA. We do not focus simply on the victory – we inspire a passion for the game, emphasize the value of effort, and praise the hard work done in practice that makes the victory possible.

At KGTA, we do not measure our success as an organization by the number of trophies our students win or by the number of children  that are enrolled in our classes. We measure our success by the number of smiles on their faces, by the sportsmanship shown to  competitors, by the positive remarks about our Coaching Staff, and by the motivation to improve as a player and a person.

Below are some of the basic tenets that are ever-present in our Junior lessons, in order to ensure that your children are getting the  most from their time with KGTA:

Customization – students learning at their own pace

Engagement – plenty of physical movement

Challenge – promoting risk taking & experimentation

Camaraderie – students motivating one another

Laughter – students enjoying themselves and their classes!

For those students who have higher aspirations within the game of tennis, we have an excellent track record of helping players achieve  successes beyond their expectations. KGTA has helped numerous students become nationally-ranked Junior players. In the past three years alone, our students have earned acceptance into the following universities:
  • Harvard University
  • University of Notre Dame
  • Villanova University
  • University of Washington
  • Loyola Marymount University
  • Pepperdine University
  • San Diego State University
  • University of California, Davis
  • United States Naval Academy
  • Stanford University
  • University of South Carolina
  • Tulane University
  • Lewis and Clark College
For more details about KGTA’s offerings, please visit our Junior Programs page. If you would like further information, please contact us  at (650) 752-8061 or by e-mailing [email protected].

We look forward to seeing your child on the court soon!

 Sincerely,

Kim Grant – Owner and Director
